  • What Does The Bible Say?
by Pastor J L Snurr, Sr.
    © Beth Shalom Independent Fellowship:

I have been asked on many occasions concerning what the unpardonable sin is.  Many have told me that it's the act of not repenting of sin.  I decided to find out what the Bible says about it.  This is what I find...

The most significant description is what Christ brought to our attention in Matthew.

We find that Matthew tells us of the time when the blind and dumb man was brought to Jesus.  Jesus immediately healed the man so he could both see and speak.  Everyone was amazed that this man, a decendant of David, was able to do this(1).

The Pharisees we intent on destroying the credibility of this Jesus of Nazareth...   the Christ.  Pharisees were a self-righteous which Christ refered to as vipers(2)(3)(4).

These pharisees heard about Jesus healing the man so they came to harass Him.  Again, they were desiring to discredit the power of God and Righteousness of Christ and claimed that the power that Christ had used to heal the man was of Beelzebub (satan)(5).

Of course we are aware that Christ used the power of the Holy Ghost because of what he told these Pharisees later.

Jesus was aware of what they were thinking and said that when a group is divided, they cannot stand...(4) they will fail.  Then he exclaims that if He cast out devils, he did it by the Spirit of God...   the Holy Ghost;   for a devil cannot cast out a devil(6).  Only the power of the Holy Spirit can cast out a devil.

Then Jesus gives us the most credible description concerning the result of what is called blasphemy.  He says that we can blaspheme Him, or anything else...   but never the Holy Spirit(7) because the Holy Spirit is the Father of Christ(8)...   and of course His God(9)(10)(11).  Then Thomas refered to Jesus as His God...   so indeed, Christ was God as well as His Father, the Holy Ghost(12).

When Christ spoke of the actions of the Pharisees, did He Lie?  I think not...   He can't lie(13).  Therefore, when the Pharisees said that the Power and authority that Christ used was devilish...   in other words, the Holy Ghost is devish.

That's what blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is...   saying God's good is evil.  This is why God take offense at blasphemy.  His power is greater than any other power...   because His power created everything that exists.  He doesn't like the devil getting credit for His miracles and such.  Remember, God is a jealous God(14)(15).
