What is Obedience?
Freedom to be creative under the
protection of divinely-appointed authority. It's related to the motivational gift of Prophesy Scripture Text: "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing it into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" - 2 Corinthians 10:5 Some of the Attributes: "Learning the importance of limitations and the meaning of the word, 'NO'." "Responding to the wished of God, parents, and others in authority." "Yielding the right to have the final decision." Questions to ask yourself: 1. Can you report to your children that you fully obeyed your parents or that you have asked them to forgive you for your disobedience? 2. Does your family see you making sacrifices to obey God? 3. Do you quickly obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit? 4. Have your children seen you violate traffic laws? or other laws or rules? Projects to help instill this quality: How can I demonstrate obedience Bible Study Questions: 1. How did at least two Bible Characters illustrate obedience? 2. How did Jesus demonstrate obedience? 3. According to Scripture, to whom are we instructed to be obedient? |
