What is Meekness?
Yielding my personal rights and expectations to God.
It's related to the motivational gift of Mercy Scripture Text: "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him." - Psalm 62:5 Some of the Attributes: "Learning how to yield rights and possessions fo God." "Responding properly to anger when others violate personal rights." "Yielding everything to God, including the results and thought for self." (a.c.e.) Questions to ask yourself: 1. Does your family ever see you lose your temper? If they do, do you acknowledge you were wrong and ask them to forgive you? 2. Do you share every part of your life with your spouse on the basis of giving him/her the right to it when you were married? 3. Do you demand respect from your children rather than teach them to be respectful? 4. Do you complain about your boss' treatment of you at work? 5. Do you demand prompt attention and service in a store or restaurant? Projects to help instill this quality: Who was the meekest man who ever lived? How did he Demonstrate meekness? Bible Study Questions: 1. How did Jesus illustrate meekness? 2. Demand for rights and anger are closely related. Name several "rights" movements and tell how anger is a motivator in them. |
