    JOYFULNESS
    vs
    Self-Pity

      What is Joyfulness?

  • The exultation of my inward being that results from genuine harmony with God and with others.
  • It's related to the motivational gift of Serving

    Scripture Text:

"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken."  -  Proverb 15:13

    Some of the Attributes:

  • "Speaking to myself in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in my heart to the Lord as a result of being in agreement with God and others." (It shows o the countenance)"  (a.c.e.)
  • "Learning how to lift the spirits of others.
  • "Learning to be happy regardless of outside circumstances."

    Questions to ask yourself:

    1.  Do you cheerfully greet the members of your family in the morning?
    2.  Do you joyfully give money fo God's work?
    3.  Do you thank God for every situation and see His benefits in allowing each one?
    4.  Do you know that you are in the place God wants you to be?
    5.  Do you have a song in your heart and make melody for God?
    6.  Do you greet others with a smile even when you are not smiling inside?
    7.  Do you take the spoiling of your goods with joy when serving Christ?

Projects and Bible Study Questions to help instill this quality:

  • What is the difference between joy and happiness?
  • The greatest example of joy was given by Jesus and is expressed in the most difficult situation. See Hebrews 12:3)
  • Look up other Scriptures about "joy" and "Rejoice" and share them for a good point of reference for joyfulness.
