What is Gratefulness?
Making known to God and others in what ways they have benefited my life
It's related to the motivational gift of Giving Scripture Text: "For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?" - 1 Corinthians 4:7 Some of the Attributes: "Learning to recognize the benefits which God and others have provided." "Looking for appropriate ways to express genuine appreciation." "Learning to give all expectations to God." Questions to ask yourself: 1. Do you make it a habit to thank God and others for the many little things in life that others tend to take for granted? 2. How many people can you think of, off-hand, who have benefited your life in the past? 3. How many of these have you personally thanked? 4. Do you share with others how various ones have helped you in the past? 5. Do you express sincere appreciation for a gift that you know you can't use? Projects to help instill this quality: 1. Take the time this week to write a note to at least one person who has benefited your life in the past. Bible Study Questions: 1. Name a Bible character and tell how s/he had illustrated gratefulness. 2. How did Jesus exhibited a grateful Spirit. |
