    GENEROSITY
    vs
    Stinginess

      What is Generosity?

Realizing that all I have belongs to God and using it for His Purpose.
It's related to the motivational gift of Serving

    Scripture Text:

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly;  and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."  -  2 Corinthians 9:6

    Some of the Attributes:

  • Using all I have to glorify God because it all belongs to Him.  (a.c.e.)
  • Recognizing that all possessions belong to God, not myself.
  • Learning how to be a wise steward of time, money, and possessions.
  • Discerning when a gift will damage the life or attitudes of the receiver.

    Questions to ask yourself:

    1.  Do you promptly give God the first fruits of your increase?
    2.  Are your gifts prompted by what you can't use anymore, or by what you see a person has need of?
    3.  Do your gifts make the one receiving them feel obligated to you?
    4.  Do you give to those you want to help you in the future?
    5.  Have you ever given a large sum of money to God that you could have used for your personal wants?
    6.  How many unexpected gifts have you given in the last year?

Projects and Bible Study Questions to help instill this quality:

  • How did Jesus demonstrate generosity?
  • What is usery?
  • If a person has a need and you have what he needs, are you automatically bound to give to that person?
  • What constitutes a need?
  • What constitutes 'the appropriate time' to give?
