What is Forgiveness?
Healing others by using their offenses as a
means of expressing to them, Christ's love. It's related to the motivational gift of Prophesy Scripture Text: "Be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." - Ephesians 4:32 Some of the Attributes: "Learning to demonstrate Christ's love toward an offender." "Understanding the motives and conflicts of an offender." "Remembering how much God has forgiven us." "Leaning to see spiritual value in the hurts God allows through other people." "Overlooking one another's faults by means of expressing to them Christ's love. (responding as if there were no faults)." (a.c.e) Questions to ask yourself: 1. Have you looked for ways of benefiting those who have hurt you in the past? 2. Do you hold any resentments for past offenses? Projects to help instill this quality: 1. Read Colossians 3:12,13 once a day for the next week. Memorize it. Discuss Matthew 18:15-17. The result of unforgiveness is bitterness. See Hebrews 12:15. Bible Study Questions: 1. Tell of a specific time when Jesus demonstrated forgiveness. 2. Give an example of a Bible character (other that Jesus) who exhibited a forgiving Spirit. |
