    FLEXIBILITY
    vs
    Resistance

      What is Flexibility?

Not setting my affections on ideas or plans which may be changed by others.
It's related to the motivational gift of Serving

    Scripture Text:

"Set your affection on things above, not things on the earth."  -   Colossians 3:2

    Some of the Attributes:

  • Setting affection on things above, not on earthly things that can be changed by others.  (a.c.e.)
  • Learning the wishes of the one I serve and adapting my priorities to meet them.
  • Learning how to cheerfully change plans when unexpected conditions require it.
  • Avoiding obligations that would hinder us from taking the best course of action.

    Questions to ask yourself:

    1.  Do you set your affections on ideas or plans which may be changed by the one you are serving?
    2.  Are you the servant of your lenders because you have borrowed for depreciating items?
    3.  Do you know how to recognize the Holy Spirit warning you that a project which you have begun is not in His perfect will?
    4.  Do you allow your authorities freedom to change their minds?

Projects and Bible Study Questions to help instill this quality:

  • How did Jesus demonstrate flexibility?
         Whom did He serve?
  • Can a person be goal-oriented and flexible at the same time?
  • Some people use their flexibility as an excuse for not having goals.  What is the danger in this and where will it lead?
  • Name another Bible character who demonstrated flexibility and tell how he/she did so.
