    About Me, Two!!

  • Once upon a time there were two terns.  The one tern found he was falling in love with the female who lived nearby but she simply wouldn't give him a second look.

Of course she was a lovely bird and preened herself to keep herself looking good for her perfect mate.  She was rather particular and every feather was in place and she meticulously kept her home decorated with the most beautiful decor...   and it was surely as lovely as she.

However, our little friend's home hadn't been improved for a long time and it was getting ragged and rough in appearance.  Most of the time his feather's were quite unkempt and stuck out here and there and in general, he though looked quite rough but he was indeed a kind, good-hearted and gentle bird.

He'd fly over looking down trying to catch her eye, and no matter what he would do to get the little beauty next door to take notice it was all to no avail...   and alas...   though she saw him, she never really noticed.

Soon our little tern became very sad and with a broken heart he decided to go to a friend and ask his advice as to what he should do.

After a short discussion of the problem, the friend told him to smile and think positively.  He told the tern to clean up his home and bring in some new sticks, twigs and reline it with fresh grass to make it comfy and cozy.

The friend also told the tern to be good.  Do only good for others and speak good of others...   and finally, he instructed the tern concerning the principals of good grooming;   he explained how to keep his feathers in order, smooth and slicked back so he can look his best.

Well the little tern took all the advice his friend offered.  The little tern began keeping his feathers clean and very well groomed...   even his tail feathers.  He washed under his litle wing pits and kept the dark stuff from between his talons.  Most importantly, he brushed his beak.  He became a good-natured and positive thinking tern.  In act, he became the most handsome bird in town.

Soon our little tern began noticing that his cute little neighbor was watching him and one day she started a conversation.  Soon afterward, they fell deeply in love and married.  Together they laid lots of eggs but sadly a few were born somewhat scrambled.  They all had freckles.

Our little Tern was so proud of his firstborn that he just had to get his picture taken with it's mother.  And a handsome lad he was.  Favored his dad.  Momma took the best of care of the little fellow.  She wanted him to grow to be a handsome and jolly fellow just like his dear old Dad.

Together with their family they lived happily ever after and raise many chicks and trained them to adulthood.

They became birds of renown and were successful at every facet of their lives.

So what's the moral of this story?  Well it's like this...   We all know that...

    "One Good Tern Deserves Another"

Actually, there is some wisdom to this story.  While it's good to take care of one's self, and keep ourselves looking our best, we must remember that the one who may not have the nicest house or isn't be the prettiest physically just MIGHT be our handsome prince or beautiful princess who is the one who is beautiful to us, and perfect to be our life's mate.  Remember, when it comes to relationships, what's perfect for me may not be perfect for you.
