In the early 1980's I worked about 8 miles from home. That's 16
miles round trip. This is a long distance if you have a car that
uses a lot of gasoline. Mine was one of these large gas guzzlers.
It was a good car, comfortable to ride in and a rather safe car due mainly
to it's size. Yes, I had a huge 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale.
They were a beautiful automobile... but they were heavy and the
455/4bbl V-8 was able to carry the weight around, but used a lot of
gasoline doing it.
One week I had an unusual amount of expenditures and was getting low with
finances. It was Wednesday and I didn't get paid until Friday.
My gas gauge was already on empty. This is not good a good thing with
this car and I had to trust God.
Now lets set up the idea here... This car gets about 16-18 miles per
gallon and I'm 8 miles from home. I needed to do the following.
..........
1. Get home that Wednesday afternoon (8 miles)
..........
2. Go to church Wednesday evening (10 miles round trip)
..........
3. Go to work and back on Thursday (16 miles round trip)
..........
4. Go to Choir Practice Thursday evening (10 miles round trip)
..........
5. Get to work on Friday (16 miles round trip)
..........
6. Go to a bank and gas station (5 miles)
This is 49 miles and my gas tank is empty. I was once told that God
can do anything if we just trust Him and have faith that He will.
So this story doesn't get too long, I traveled those 49 miles and pulled
into the gas station and ran out at the pump. He gave me exactly
what I needed and no one else can do that so perfectly.
He wants us to continue in the ministries which he's called us to and will
indeed give us the way to do that. God cares about even our smallest
problems... even an empty gas tank in a big gas guzzler car.
